New catalogues arriving, this season's trends being posted online... come on be honest, I cant be the only one who finds this time of year exciting!? The moment a catalogue drops onto my doormat I cant help but do a little dance, rush like a headless chicken to get all my work done then finally tidy up the living room so that I can relax, sit with a cup of tea (I normally drink coffee but some reason this event calls for tea) and devour every page.
As usual there are several main looks emerging that have taken inspiration from the colours of the year (see my previous post) plus a few ‘mini’ trends and some that are holding on from last year e.g. copper, metallic and marble are still big, as are all shades of grey.
Here’s a look at just one big trend, along with some of my favourite accessories/decoration supplies. Please note I have no links/sponsorship with any of these brands and of course other are available! :p
One theme which seems to be recurring though is the link to nature, with bright tropical collections such as Urban Jungle from Next - which I also think has a slight art deco glamorous twist (pictured above) and Urban Garden from Maison Du Monde - again quirky tropical themes but with hints of an industrial edge and more muted pastel shades.
Plus if you like the green idea but want a more traditional, calm setting try the 'Timeless Country' scheme from Laura Ashley where you'll find classic checks and florals paired with neutral woods and hints of golden yellow or their 'Woodland Scene' which brings in a rich warm red. For a fail safe scheme just add in a few 'pops' of green into a neutral room of creams or greys as seen in the picture below left.
Hopefully i've given you a few Ideas here... for more inspiration, colour schemes and products please see my Pinterest boards!
